Andy Alford

ANDY ALFORD is the senior editor for the news at the Austin American-Statesman, one of four daily newspaper properties owned by Cox Media Group. As senior editor she is responsible for managing the teams that write about local and state issues for the free and paid websites, as well as the Statesman print editions, in one of the fastest-growing regions in the country. Among her other duties, she is responsible for daily and long-range content planning, hiring and recruiting talented reporters and editors, and helping to lead the newsroom through unprecedented change and disruption in the industry. Alford has had a nearly 19-year tenure at the Statesman. Before joining the newsroom’s senior leadership team, she had various roles, including local editor, data journalist on the investigative team and community affairs reporter. She is among those representing the CMG Newspaper Group on the Cox diversity and inclusion effort, an ongoing company-wide initiative that aims to drive business results by fostering inclusion and leveraging the diversity of CMG employees, suppliers, customers and communities. Alford loves the pace and creative challenges working at an urban daily newspaper brings. @statesman
