Erin Cargile
Erin Cargile is an Emmy nominated reporter who anchors the weekend morning show on KXAN. She joined the KXAN News team in 2008 and focuses on education issues affecting the lives of Central Texans. Cargile is also a member of the KXAN Investigative Team. She started her TV news career in college as a writer and overnight assignment editor at KFOR in Oklahoma City. After graduation, Cargile moved back to Texas to report at KXII in Sherman and then KRIS in Corpus Christi. Most recently, she was honored with the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International 2012 Media award for in-depth coverage of the Texas school accountability system, potential Austin school closures and the impact of budget cuts to numerous local school districts. Her education reporting has also been recognized by the Texas Classroom Teachers Association. Cargile was honored with a Lone Star Emmy nomination in 2010 for a series of investigative reports uncovering corruption in the Lexington Police Department. In 2011, she earned her second Lone Star Emmy nomination and was named “Best General Assignment Reporter” by the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters for a series of reports on Ben Breedlove’s death.
