First Lady Cecilia Abbott
FIRST LADY CECILIA ABBOTT in January 2015, Abbott made history by becoming the first Hispanic First Lady of Texas. She has been a teacher, viceprincipal and principal at several Catholic schools across Texas, and she has also worked in senior health care services. Abbott hasn’t only devoted her professional life to helping others – she has done the same in her personal life. She serves on the board of several educational organizations and is a member of many philanthropic groups. Last year she launched her Texanthropy Initiative to promote volunteerism and service to others as her primary focus as First Lady of Texas. She has also partnered with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services on a similar initiative, Network of Nurture, to raise awareness about the ways Texans can support the children and families in the state’s child welfare system. Abbott is a proud mother to her daughter, Audrey, and a devoted wife to her husband of 36 years, the Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott. @texasflca
