Kate Bowler, Ph.D.

2024 Speaker

KATE BOWLER’s work centers on the cultural narratives we construct around success, suffering, and our capacity for change. After an unexpected Stage IV cancer diagnosis at age 35, Kate was led to think in different terms about the research and beliefs she had been studying. She now uses her voice (along with her resilience, wisdom, and infectious optimism) to inspire others to embrace their vulnerabilities, discover purpose, and approach life with a newfound sense of meaning. Her two NYT best-selling memoirs, Everything Happens for a Reason (and Other Lies I’ve Loved) and No Cure For Being Human (and Other Truths I Need to Hear), along with her popular podcast, Everything Happens, have helped to garner widespread media attention from The Today Show, New York Times, Washington Post, and NPR. Her TED talk has been viewed more than 10 million times. Kate’s latest book, Have a Beautiful, Terrible Day was released in February 2024.
