Laura LeMond
Laura LeMond is the founder of Mosaic Weighted Blankets. She was born prematurely with Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD). LeMond was a college student before she finally discovered that placing weighted sandbags on her body calmed her. And when she saw autism activist Temple Grandin’s story about the hug box, she realized she wasn’t alone. In 2010, she created a weighted blanket, a combo beanbag and blanket, and launched Mosaic Weighted Blankets. Today her company is one of the largest retailers in the U.S. for weighted blankets. LeMond sells to adults and children with SPD, Autism, ADD/ADHD, PTSD, Anxiety Disorder and Insomnia. Proud of her “bootstrap” approach to starting a business, she used digital and social media to market a product most people had never heard of. A University of Texas graduate, LeMond credits part of her success to a previous career with IBM. @lauralemond @wmblankets
