Mandy Williams, the “Black” of Red & Black, retired from the oil and gas industry by the time she was 40. When boredom sank in she started racing cars – first Porsches, then Ferraris, and along the way raised more than $1 million dollars for Make-A-Wish. When her sister’s husband got fired, she turned her sister’s crisis into a book, a brand and a business venture. “What I Learned About Life When My Husband Got Fired!,” their self-published book, was launched by Neiman Marcus and soon became the basis of a Personal Finance and Life 101 program Red & Black developed and taught at KIPP Houston High School. The book has also been approved by the Texas State Board of Education as a personal financial literacy textbook. Besides being the first woman to race the road course at Indianapolis, Williams is an entrepreneur, publisher, author, columnist, public speaker and teacher. Williams received an economics degree from Wilkes College in Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. in international finance from New York University and London Business School.
