Marlene Phillips
Learning Stage | Seeking Leaders: Women Wanted
MARLENE PHILLIPS was raised in rural Texas by a hard-working mother, put herself through college, and landed a job in DC on Capitol Hill, setting the course for a career in public service. From disaster response at the Red Cross to advancing U.S. interests abroad as a foreign service officer, Phillips is known for her ability to collaborate her way to success. Today, Phillips is the director of the Center for Women in Politics and Public Policy in the Jane Nelson Institute for Women’s Leadership at Texas Woman’s University, where she revels in making the ‘Women Wanted’ sign visible and accessible to everyone.
